- Amoxycillin – Semi synthetic Penicillin with abroad spectrum activity. Amoxycillin kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis by binding to target proteins.
- Clavulanic Acid – Inhibits beta lactamasa enzyme & protect Amoxycillin from degradation.
Thus prevents resistance and increase the spectrum of antibiotic.
Indications:
Upper respiratory tract infection
Lower respiratory tract infection
Orodental Infection
Skin and soft tissue infection
Urinary tract infection
Post-surgical infections
Dosage
Adults and children over 12 yrs
For mild to moderate infections: 375 mg T.I.D. or 625 mg B.I.D. for 5-7 days
For severe infections: 625 mg T.I.D. for 5-7 days
Children:
25-45 mg / kg / day (Amoxycillin content) after every 12hrs. For 5-7 days
In treating resistant Streptococcus pneumonia cases 80-90 mg/kg/day (Amoxycillin content) BID
Side effects: Mild in nature. Diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, candidiasis and pseudomembranous colitis, urticarial and erythematous rashes.
Precaution: In liver and renal function impairment, dosage to be adjusted.
Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to penicillin or any other component of the product.
